Transforming Mental Healthcare

Transforming mental health for athletes means supporting the pressures, expectations, and emotional challenges that come with performance. As sports social work professionals, we help athletes strengthen their mindset, manage stress, build confidence, and develop life skills while ensuring they have the support and resources needed to thrive in both sport and life.

I blend sports social work with therapeutic support to care for the whole athlete mind and body. My sessions combine performance-focused guidance with evidence-based therapy to help athletes manage stress, build resilience, and stay grounded through challenges. This modern, holistic approach supports emotional wellbeing, enhances performance, and promotes long-term growth on and off the field.

    Anxiety

Anxiety for athletes shows up in many ways. How they think, what they worry about and how their body feels. Anxiety-inducing factors almost always are thoughts about the future. This can cause disruptions in performance, their health, and other non-sport-related areas.

    Mental Block

Mental blocks are most recognized in sports like gymnastics where 70% of athletes will experience them. Other sports may know this as the yips or target panic. The brain will shut down the body's ability to perform a skill that an athlete has successfully done before.

    Confidence

Most athletes get stuck on the confidence roller coaster. Where each play, practice, and game decides how they feel about themselves and their ability. This can lead to being anxious feeling burnout, poor self-esteem, and continued performance declines.
